drug movies

New posts
Wonderland, The Doors, Pulp Fiction, Goodfellas, and The Big lebowski, are not drug movies - just movies that have drugs in them. Alcohol is absolutely a drug.

Blow - yes. Leaving Las Vegas - yes. Days of Wine & Roses - yes. Party Monster - maybe.

Think drugs as the main theme, think addiction and destruction. :(

Reefer Madness (aka "Tell Your Children") 1936

We used to watch this one over and over again back in college.

Yikes! What a horrible experience! So sorry.
Thanks!

The part where he said "You have got one life to live, you better throw me your purse now and don't look back" was a real life scariest drug induced thing that ever happened to me! I'm very sure he was a crack head. I couldn't fathom how someone could stick a gun at a pregnant women's belly unless they were wasted on drugs or about to be wasted on drugs. The even sadder thing was I was with my 11 year old niece. I snatched her purse and mine, threw at him and panicked. Combined, we had about 3 dollars in our purses. My keys were in there with our address written on it ( we had just moved that week and my niece was there to help me) We lived 2 blocks from there and I was afraid he was going to come after us. After a police showed up, he thought the guy was still on foot, so we had a police chase through Cabrini Green, until I said "I think I'm in labor. He then turned the car around, and sped through Chicago to get us to the hospital. My niece went through all of this with me and had to go in the L & D room because I was afraid for her to be alone.
That was my welcome to Lincoln Park in Chicago!

oh supermom, that is such a terrible experience! i cannot begin to imagine it. you did the right thing throwing your purse - I don't know if I could even move given the same situation.
You would have done the same. An out of body experience takes over. You tell yourself this is not happening! I hardly remember the movements.

So sorry this had to happen to you and your neice. I'm somewhat familiar with Linclon Park and it is definately a very nice area of the city. I would've been totally freaked out and I would never have thought Lincoln Park, in broad daylight no less! It would be so hard for me to keep from looking over my shoulder after that.

We chose this area to live because it was supposed to be nice. The police said the bad guys don't go into bad neighborhoods to rob, only good ones.
I was scared for a long time after that. Some post-partum, not knowing anyone there, with a new, first, baby but I didn't leave the house for a while, except to go 2 blocks - to Great Harvest Bread, Starbucks and the Old Town School of Folk Music for Wiggle Worms! My world became pretty small. I ended up getting a job offer to go back to Michigan and we jumped on it!

Thanks everyone for your kind thoughts.

Best guitar music for kids! We bought their cd they had out in 1995/6ish
for the kids - it was so great! We wore out that cd - I loved Akin Drum and Red Bird on my Window (I think?) This Folk Music School was my Tuesday/Thursday routine. Even after we had moved away, when we would come back to visit, we would try to drop in on a class.

Rush from the early 90's was a good one. I can't remember the main male actor, but Jennifer Jason Leigh and Gregg Allman were in it. The music was done by Clapton. Good drug movie, with a wild ending...

Yes it was - I had forgotten about it, having only seen it once and somehow confused it with "Go" which was lame. JJ Leigh is awesome. I like most of her movies.

Raynor (Jason Patric) is an undercover narcotics cop. For his next assignment he chooses the more inexperienced but tough and good-looking Kristen (Jason Leigh). Their ultimate target is Gaines, a renowned but very elusive drug dealer. While doing their work they unexpectedly fall into a morase of drug-addiction and fall in love with each other. Despite subjecting themselves to the life of low class, one track junkies they do not get the evidence they want to convinct Gaines, and instead are forced into using false evidence in court.

There's also The Salton Sea. If you already don't realize just how bad meth is, you certainly will after seeing this cautionary tale.

I had forgotten how intense it is. Watching it again now. Kilmer is very good in it.
