Torture in Iraq

New posts
]
I cannot express how childish this whole thread is. How easy would it be for anyone to simply post graphic images from Abu Grahb? Or scenes from the Holocaust? Or lynchings in the American South? Or images of James Byrd?s mutilated body being dragged behind a car in Texas? Or scenes from the Oklahoma City bombing?

Thanks for bringing this up. What were American's and the military's reaction to Abu Grahb (sic)? And what is the position taken by the leaders of al Qaeda? What was our justice department's take on lynchings or on Berry, Brewer and King? What was the rest of the world's take on the Holocaust? Thanks for saving me time and making my point.

I think a good portion of the posters on here would fancy themselves progressive, liberal and open minded, accepting of homosexulality, atheism, drug use, fornication, maybe even adultery. While the religous right is not very tolerant of those acts, modern day christianity on the whole is mature enough to be largely accepting of persons with differing lifestyles, albeit with vehement disagreement on the morality of those acts. And even if Christianity were not accepting of those lifestyles and wished to harshly punish such, the U.S. Constitution and Bill of Rights either prevents such punishment and retribution in its entirety or properly restricts the bounds so that the punishment is not cruel and unusual. I don't think you will find the same safeguards in the middle east. In fact, I think most, if not all of the above mentioned, are capital offenses and will get you hung in the street. I'm not smart enough to know whether the Iraq thing was wrong, history will tell. But I do know that Bush had some tough decisions to make after 9/11. If the middle east and those from the middle east migrating to the U.S. don't wish to impose there belief system and style of government on the U.S. and its citizens, then I guess we're ok and disengaging from the area would be less dangerous. But the message looked a little different when the WTC came down and I can see how U.S. leaders may have thought that trying to get a handle on what was going on over there would be wise. Hard to fault that viewpoint.
I'm not smart enough about the Iraq thing? Wow! It's called a war of preemptive regime change and occupation against the will of the majority of the population. We've broken that country into pieces that will never go back together the way we want. We're screwed, because of a kneejerk revenge move that was poorly thought out. In one motion, we have destabilized a huge area of the Middle East and have strengthened Iran and Al Qaeda to the point that they no longer fear our projection of power. Meanwhile, someone tell me why Bin Laden is still drawing breath? None of our leaders are proposing any solution to clean up the worst mistake any President, in my lifetime, has ever made. History will tell?

That wasn?t your point at all. You were implying that violent behavior by some condemns an entire group to ?animal? status. And therefore your very nuanced response is a red herring at best. Typical.

Funny that you raise the subject of Abu Grahb, since the Bush Admin squealed like a stuck pig when the images were published, and then moved to suppress the publishing of any more images, claiming the pictures would incite violence and hatred of US forces in Iraq. They probably would. Kind of like the way your post is attempting to do the same, but in reverse.

So are we to label you a hypocrite 6thGen? If not, then you will have to agree that the Abu Grahb images should be published and that our society should be judged by them. Oh yes, and lets also let them judge the pitiful manner in which a few underlings took the scapegoating for that whole affair.

I love the logic though, we invade them thereby sparking unrest and civil strife only to sit back now and point the bony finger of haughty arrogance and exclaim, ?Oh my, what animals these people be, good thing we invaded them?.?

How do you justify invading Iraq as part of the War on Terror? Easy, you label anybody who opposes that occupation with force as a terrorist. Ta ?dah ?the invasion creates its own justification! Backwards Bush logic.

Wrong. Again, go back and read up where I've refuted this before I have to again.

Oh this I gotta hear.

FYI: This quote refers to 6thGens belief that AlQuaeda was in Iraq prior to the invasion.

You refutted it? In your own mind maybe; and we all know how many detours your logic path tends to take before it arrives at it's destination.

Please, amuse us all with your findings.

Please, we do NOT need to hear anymore IMO. :bang:

Please keep this in mind folks when you reply to this troll and take a look at the threads he has started.

there's also a group called the Rendon Group that is all about controlling public opinion on government actions that people are reporting on their site meters. Considering that the Rendon Group has contracts from BushCo to spread pro-war propaganda, it's hard to imagine that they aren't also targeting left-leaning blogs, possibly trying to circumvent productive anti-war discussion by bomb-throwing and other nonsense. Something to keep an eye out for--if you have right wing trolls that only comment on certain topics, especially if they just generate generic talking points, there's a solid chance they are a troll-for-hire.

Types of Trolls

The Crash and Burn Troll: This type of troll will join your site, spam it with inflammatory remarks and images, then sit back and watch the fire works. Not to be confused with the common spammer who joins only to advertise their product or website. This type of troll, revels in upsetting your community. In fact there are actually trolls like this that get paid to do so. If not handled properly they will come back time and time again when you least expect it.

OMG! Well maybe we should give 6thGen the benefit of the doubt and give him the chance to answer a question only someone actually in Sowal would know.

6thGen- Describe what the owner of Red Bar looks like.

I do hope he proves himself to be a home grown misguided neo-con nut job instead of an imported one, as I do enjoy kicking him around.........

You and Mango have now entered into paranoid schizophrenia. Not that I'm surprised. I'll get to your questions when I have a minute. I would like to see where you think you've kicked me around, though. If you can point some of that out I'd appreciate it.

That doesn't make your point at all. How many million Jews died before the world reacted?

Abu Ghraib. The military served up a couple of hillbilly yokels that supposedly masterminded that. Give me a break.

The point was that sick people do sick things in America as well. When taken out of context , these things look just as bad. Your main complaint seems to be that the response to terrorism by Muslims is not vocal and vehement enough for your tastes.

Just read this. We think quite alike. See my post.
