Assuming and spreading false information is the mother of all screw-ups!

Would you prefer the term " presume" or "likely" or any other? Take your pick. I don't care. Or have you come up with an alternative way to pay for expanded Medicaid? If so, please share it.

What false information did I spread?

I agree. Assuming is a major screw up. The copy and paste you did above included assumptions.

“We’re going to win by telling the truth and giving folks something to vote for, not against”
Andrew Gillum

It's time for Florida to move forward in every way.

Who will be Florida’s next governor? See Republican Ron DeSantis and Democrat Andrew Gillum face off in a live CNN debate moderated by Jake Tapper. Tonight at 8 ET on CNN #FLGovDebate

WASHINGTON (CNN) — As the final two weeks of campaigning begin, Democrats hold an edge in both the gubernatorial and Senate contests in the key state of Florida, according to a new CNN Pollconducted by SSRS. Democratic nominee Andrew Gillum holds a wide 12-point edge over his Republican opponent Rep. Ron DeSantis in the race for governor, while the Senate contest is a closer matchup with incumbent Democratic Sen. Bill Nelson at 50% to Republican Gov. Rick Scott's 45%.

"When deceitful DeSantis tries to scare Floridians that Gillum will somehow bankrupt our state, remind him that he voted for Trump’s tax cuts that are pushing our deficit to $1,000,000,000,000!

We don’t need the bandages he’s offering for red tide, we need a permanent solution.

Why is DeSantis willing to lie so much during this election? What else is he lying about and why is he so desperate to win? Could it have something to do with Rick Scott’s massive wealth increase during his time in office? Rick Scott’s net worth was more that $232 million at the end of 2017, a 55% increase from the year prior. Maybe Ron wants to take over Rick’s cash cow system. Maybe, just maybe DeSantis wants a piece.

~Written by Christopher Larsen~

If the tax cuts shepherded through Congress by President Trump are responsible for the deficit, what say ye, Mr. Larsen, about the effect on the deficit of the huge increases in spending during Obama’s unfortunate time in office.

You will recall that spending binge was accompanied by both large tax increases and an unprecedented explosion in the debt to levels three and four times all the debt accumulated in the entire history of our nation prior to those disastrous lost years.

It is that undeniable reality and its concomitants that finally forced the electorate to decide to reject the manifest failure of the approach of the Establishment Left and Right in favor of President Trump’s rather different approach. Rep. DeSantis largely echoes President Trump's approach to reducing the weight of the government millstone around our necks.

A basic acknowledgement of the realities of politics and economics, informed by recognition that economic conditions are vastly improved under President Trump’s policies after declining precipitously and staying depressed throughout the Obama years, might serve the author of this screed and readers of same a good deal better than blind acceptance of its partisan distortions.

It would also serve all to recognize that the explosion of debt has occurred with the acquiescence of both Republicans and Democrats in Congress, and the White House, too, but with Trump being the first President in the last quarter century to actually do anything constructive about battling the irresponsible forces in D.C and around both our country and the world.

Bill Clinton gave up his quest for a Leftist Nirvana and accepted reasonable compromises because, like Trump, he is a pragmatic, smart guy. His reasons were different than Trump’s, but his results, like Trump’s but unlike the intervening Presidents, were good for the economy and thus for the country.

To the extent politically possible, Rep. DeSantis favors doing what is good for the country, not just for specific favored groups, and he has given no indication he is in favor of weaponizing government against his opponents. The FBI probe alluded to has antedated this election by years, and the FBI in any event has been and remains a weapon of Establishment Democrats.

Like him or hate him, President Trump is doing what he can to fulfill his campaign pledges within the constraints of our system of dysgovernance, and our economy has responded very positively, benefits from which will flow to Americans for years if the politicians don’t screw it up.

Florida has on balance prospered exceedingly during Gov. Scott's tenure. Like him or hate him, the proof is in the pudding. Florida is a bigger magnet than ever for investment, jobs, tourism, and a desirable place to live. If nothing else, Scott can take credit for not screwing things up, and FWIW, I think he deserves a bit more credit than that.

Rep. DeSantis has an even more accomplished, make that distinguished, record than Mr. Gillum, and there is no speculation, let alone substance, that there are criminal acts in office by Rep. DeSantis. DeSantis has been a straight arrow his entire life, to the best of anyone's knowledge, including the FBI, it would appear.

Our Founders were right to fear a strong federal government, and they did a pretty good job of making it hard for the feds to legally run amok. But run amok they have. And they are aided and abetted by the stupid and divisive rhetoric that our media, both MSM and social, place front and center these days. Of course, that divisiveness stems from the politicians themselves since it translates into more campaign cash, more votes, and a better chance at staying little kings for longer until retirement to the riches of lobbying and consulting and overpaid board positions.

We have real problems to address in our country and our state. They deserve an informed electorate as dispassionately as possible deciding on the outcome of elections. We are ill-served by the spasms of the extremes, be they Right or Left. The article to which I'm responding is just such a spasm disserving the credulous.

Did anyone else laugh when they read the reference to the red tide? I wonder about the author's "permanent solution" and the mindset that any politician could possibly devise and implement such. What a fool!

Actually if the has been governor of Fl. had accepted federal aid, people in dire need of medical care would have it.

The CDC just reported that the rate of Floridians without health insurance rose again last year, to 20.1 percent from 19.8 percent. Since Scott took office in 2011, Florida has ranked near the bottom on access to basic health coverage.

The main reason for Florida’s poor performance is that Scott has refused to expand Medicaid under the ACA . Though Scott expressed support for Medicaid expansion in 2013, he quickly backed off. Two years later, he sided with the Florida House against a Senate proposal that could have provided coverage for about 800,000 of the state’s working poor.

Every credible survey has shown that Medicaid expansion benefits those who obtain coverage and the states themselves. The Kaiser Family Foundation found that the roughly 15 million new Medicaid enrollees nationwide had fewer out-of-pocket medical expenses, lower medical debt and better credit. They also were less likely to face bankruptcy.

If Scott had looked past party affiliation and opposition to expanding Medicaid and instead looked at improving the lives of his constituents and boosting the economy in doing so, he would not now be in the fight of his life for a Senate seat.

Move the chess pieces anywhere you want. The only way to fund government programs is through taxation.
Fine with me. The government is not an enemy. Raise my taxes I don’t mind one bit helping my fellow Floridians obtain healthcare, food, and shelter. Unlike you Trumpers I realize it’s not always about me.

You just made it about you.

Good for you for being financially able to help others.

I didn't offer my opinion on a tax increase. Just facts. Plain and simple facts. Well, maybe a little conjecture.

I never called the government the enemy. You may be confusing me with another poster.

I’m not financially able our country is and I didn’t say you offered an opinion on a tax increase I was only giving mine. Also didn’t claim you said the government was the enemy. You might be a bit sensitive.
