Gillum

New posts
I think the biggest lie people have been told and actually believe is that Gillum will impose a state income tax. I even had an employee of Walton County Government spread the malicious BS from DeSantis on their page and it showed up on my news feed. I thought OMG...they should know better!

FACT: The governor doesn't have the power to introduce a state income tax.. It requires a constitutional amendment approved by 60 percent of voters. A state income tax was banned from the Florida Constitution in 1924...94 years ago!

On Facebook, I've been seeing these huge red ads simply saying "Gillum will impose state income tax", and a slew of comments saying they won't vote for him because of this. I asked, very nicely, for any link or quote from him at all supporting that statement, and I got nothing.

Florida Democratic gubernatorial candidate Andrew Gillum was slammed by the Broward Sheriff Deputies’ union for being “hostile toward law enforcement.”

The Broward Sheriff’s Office Deputies Association condemned the Democrat for signing a “Freedom Pledge” that contains anti-police rhetoric.

Florida gubernatorial candidate runs high-crime city, signs anti-police pledge. Cops call him hostile.

Is this the one he signed?

Steelman: Since you disagree with my opinion that there is no substance to the claim Gollum is in favor of a state income tax, I will ask you nicely to send us a link backing this claim. Otherwise, I will be forced to assume it is just another Big Republican Lie.

I’ve noticed he will disagree with most anything he doesn’t like even proven facts or something witnessed by another, as in your case, so I’m not sure he understands what disagree means, but I’m sure he will disagree with me.

Andrew Gillum will be a governor for all Floridians
Andrew Gillum will be a governor for all Floridians

Andrew Gillum is the best candidate to pull Florida back to the center, back to making sure the middle class and working class don’t continue to bear the brunt of Tallahassee’s misguided spending; back to acting on behalf of the Floridians denied health insurance by the current administration; back to putting public schools, which serve the majority of the state’s children, in the spotlight; back to being a leader in the fight against sea-level rise and the degradation of the environment.

The tenacity, political smarts and commitment to public service that propelled this Tallahassee mayor to victory from the bottom of the pack of better-known candidates in August’s Democratic primary speak volumes. We think that each quality will serve him well as he likely confronts and negotiates with a Republican-dominated Legislature. These lawmakers were used to falling into line behind a governor whose often skewed sense of public service too often matched their own.

It’s unseemly that, in a race in which the issues should be front and center, DeSantis and his surrogates have tried to paint Gillum as a socialist, an extremist and an anti-Semite. Gillum is none of these things. Though he has received support from Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders, a self-described “democratic socialist,” Gillum has resolutely and rightly rejected the label. Indeed, his is nothing close to a platform of government ownership of private business...

Andrew Gillum will be a governor for all Floridians

“Don’t monkey this up, Florida” This was what Ron DeSantis said the morning he won his primary while on FOX News. He was referring to Florida possibly electing its first black governor, Andrew Gillum.

When deceitful DeSantis tries to scare Floridians that Gillum will somehow bankrupt our state, remind him that he voted for Trump’s tax cuts that are pushing our deficit to $1,000,000,000,000! Now Ron DeSantis and his millionaire buddies are spending millions to tell Floridians that Gillum wants to impose a state tax on them. This is a straight up lie and has been against the constitution for 94 years.

DeSantis’ Super PACs are working overtime to scare people with socialism and Venezuela. Ron DeSantis doesn’t mind socialism when we’re spending the money on a useless wall. He didn’t care when Trump increased spending our tax dollars on tanks and bombs. Ron DeSantis only PRETENDS to care about these issues when it benefits him. I don’t recall DeSantis scaring people about socialism when he spent over $140,000 tax payer dollars on trips around the country, including New York to appear on Fox News. Now he is refusing disclose records of these trips.

When 2% Ron tries to be “pro-environment”, remind him that the environment is not a band wagon he can jump on whenever he wants. He voted against the environment 98% of the time while in Congress and the damage has already been done. We don’t need the bandages he’s offering for red tide, we need a permanent solution. If Ron DeSantis is so against the sugar industry, why are they indirectly funding his campaign through super PACs? Gillum has a history of focusing on solar energy which is why FPL is running attack ads on him and donating to DeSantis.

When Ron DeSantis lies about Gillum and says that he is weak and crime, remind him that Tallahassee’s crime rate decreased by 20% under Gillum’s watch. The sheriffs around Tallahassee have all endorsed Gillum for bringing the police and citizens closer together.

Why is DeSantis willing to lie so much during this election? What else is he lying about and why is he so desperate to win? Could it have something to do with Rick Scott’s massive wealth increase during his time in office? Rick Scott’s net worth was more that $232 million at the end of 2017, a 55% increase from the year prior. Maybe Ron wants to take over Rick’s cash cow system. Maybe, just maybe DeSantis wants a piece.

It is my understanding that his plan is raising corparate income tax rate. We don't know what the side affects would be or if it will pay for what he is promising.

My guess is that there is an assumption of a state income tax since there isn't another feasible way to pay for the expansion of Medicaid that he would like to see.

Assuming and spreading false information is the mother of all screw-ups!
