At some point I think the republican party need to set a new purpose of governing because their purpose right now seems to have gotten off track to what we the people need from them. I want my government to ENFORCE universal background checks, restrictions on assault weapons and red flag's if there is anything in our personal history that suggests we have physcially hurt other people. Then there is the mental part of owning a gun. I can not stress the importance of gun owners understanding and practicing safety and passing some sort of safety program like the hunter safety programs we have. Any republican reading this please tell me why you do not want these regulations that will save human life possibly even ourselves or our family. Please explain to me that you respect safe use of guns AND human life like you respect the words in the 2nd Amendment.

I'll will go a step further and say that we should not be allowed t to purchase a gun without an extensive background check. Okay so what does extensive mean? I do not have a specific answer but I will say that it should prevent many of these mass murderers who have shown some indications of "threats" to kill people prior to the mass shooting to never be able to purchase a weapon.

Ya'll are getting off the 2nd amendment subject. ( Matt Gaetz drift, I guess.) A thought hit me the other day: you know the saying " the only way to stop a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun". I was curious, how many of these "good guys with a gun", who truly saved the day, did it with an assault rifle?
