Politricks forum needs to come back so the members who want to spend their time beating each other up can do it in there rather than here. I largely quit looking in here a while back when it was so bad that every thread on two full pages was "I hate Trump", "I hate Hillary", "The Russians Stole the Election", "Welcome to Trump's America" or some variation of that. The Lounge lost its shine and just wasn't a fun place anymore.

Remember the Lounge during the first Obama election? That is when it got pretty bad and got deleted shortly after.

I think the political forum got deleted because people in the lounge couldn't stand the thought of people beating each other up in a separate forum which they claimed to have never visited.

There is no easy solution. Too many whiny babies these days.

The lounge is viewable only if you are a registered member and logged in. So the vast majority of visitors to the forum who aren't logged in don't see the lounge.

The previous general political forum was viewable to everyone. Afraid it gave a negative impression to everyone. It colored the whole forum.

Regrettably, the local political forum may be doing the same thing. But also has important info and positive discussions. We need to encourage positive discussion and discourage the opposite.

I was just about to say I think the rationale behind deleting the political forum is that serious albeit sometimes nasty political threads in the lounge, only degrade the lounge and nothing more. Whereas when you devote a whole forum to such discussion, it degrades the whole Sowal board.

The lounge has always allowed more leeway, a relaxing of the rules, is supposed to be free and the people who visit it should keep a sense of humor and chill. Like a local bar (lounge). Some people would never go to such a place and if they did probably wouldn't feel comfortable.
