I am strongly against cancel culture, thought censorship and the threatening and destructive way people are using this to hurt others who express anything they deem offensive. American and other westernized nations are the only places where we even HAVE the privilege to fight about an ideal social justice blinders full-on, AS IF it is practiced and understood by all of humanity. It Is Not. Many immigrants to the USA that come from countries do not have american values and they do not treat people equally in their home lands. And many will continue NOT to treat people equally when they get to the USA, continuing their oppressive, mysogynst, sexist, racist, abusive backwards cultures here until they get caught and thrown in jail. Slavery is still practiced in many countries today. Notably, 58 percent of people in
slavery are living in just five countries: India, China, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Uzbekistan. Other countries include: Nigeria, Russia, Indonesia and the North Africa/Egypt area. Its pretty much widespread in the middle east. Saudi Arabia is rampant with domestic slaves from the Philipines, and they often abuse and kill them.
PH, source of modern-day slaves – The Manila Times Many Philipino families immigrated to the US with their slaves, registering them as family members or maids. Google it there are tons of great articles on this topic. My point is, American social justice does not extend worldwide and into other "Cultures". This is western phenomenon only. We as a culture are taking this too far with all of the censorship, thought police, demonization and eradication of history and cataloging of "offensive" words. The now forbidden offensive word/ offensive phrase list has grown exponentially in just a few years and its leading us straight into a nation where we have to live in fear. We are eroding away at our freedoms of speech and trading them in for a worthless false sense of civility. True change to societal norms should not be a compulsory mandate threatened by losing your job, getting kicked out of a university or other attacks on your livelihood and life.
