Bob Wells, be careful who you quote these days
Dawn, good point! I am guessing of course but if I were a Southern Farmer with no slaves and no desire to have slaves I do not think I would have put on the gray uniform to support slavery. Being poor means you worry about feeding your family and not so much about the wealthy plantation owners in the North and South and those wealthy industrialist in the North that owned slaves If I believed that I had no representation and was being taxed unfairly making it difficult to feed my family I likely would put on that gray uniform. I believe in my heart that is what the Confederate Soldier was fighting for which was why this country broke free of England. Those in power are very good at deflecting the real cause of war which is almost always money. We can go back and forth forever debating who is right but neither of us lived in those times. I respect your opinion and probably agree with you more than you think. BTW California is still trying to secede from the Union and there is nothing in the Constitution that prevents it.
Teresa, I understand you disagree with my posts and my long winded style. Really I get it. " Essays" are not the place for this community forum. I try to share my personal experiences to make a point and by doing that I open myself to people like LOTB who have no limits of disrespect. For the life of me I can not figure out why you justify that behavior. LOTB does the same thing that Trump does! They both bait with hate. To be fair LOTB is not the only one. How is that better than an essay that tries to speak openly and personally honest to connect with people? Since we are typing words instead of talking it is hard for me to know if you are saying I am dishonest and unkind or someone else. Also I do not understand why you believe I am judging people when I try so hard not to judge anyone including LOTB, etal. If you are speaking to me about being a troll, being dishonest, being unkind and disrespectful then I suppose I am confused. I have my opinions regarding the Confederate Soldier and what he fought for and you disagree. We both use our words to support our opinion. We still disagree. The County votes on the issue and the monuments and flags stand (for now). I promise you I am not gloating or rejoicing in that decision but I think it is the truth of how this county feels about it as a whole. That is what I mean by the truth. Everything else is opinion because neither of us are African American. When the day comes and the whole decide to remove the flags and the monuments to a less sensitive location then that will be the truth. Regarding how does a real name versus a fake name help with anything? Well, if you know who I am and what I do and where I live or do business you can verify me as someone who has skin in the game. Those who post who have no identity are more likely to be the troll that you speak of. Listen this is another essay and maybe my method does not fit in this forum. I am rather stubborn and have not took the hints to stay out so this is your opportunity to say GET OUT

I am listening!
