Walton County Votes to Keep Confederate Flag Flying

New posts
We remember the holocaust without statues to Nazis or flying the Nazi flag. Instead we build memorials to the victims of Nazism and vow not to let it happen again. Maybe we should try the same thing with slavery and discrimination.
But we didnt go and tear down the concentration camps. Instead they are still standing and were declared World Heritage Sites so that people wouldnt forget. I lived through and witnessed the race riots in Birmingham in 1968 and the name Martin Luther King Jr. reminds me of horrible sights and sounds and seeing humanity at its worst, I will never be able to look a German Shepard dog without hearing them barking and growling and running after people in the streets of the city I grew up in. But you wont see me protesting his name or calling for all those dogs to be wiped off the face of the earth. It was a deeply disturbing time and I dont want anyone to ever forget it.

Hey, lets round them all up, yell in their face, eliminate what's important to them, make them get on their hands and knees and beg forgiveness. And if they don't, beat them into submission, put them in internment camps until they break...and if they don't....Think I've heard of this strategy somewhere before, but where?

“If liberty means anything at all, it means the right to tell people what they do not want to hear.”

Ever heard the phrase "the South will rise again"? Quite a few people around here want to repeat history.
Quite a few people are gluttons for punishment.

Those who forget history (or choose to burn it down, tear it down, or remove it) are doomed to repeat it...
Honoring Confederates is like honoring the family rapist.

Beacause they are both pieces of s--t who don't deserve to be honored.

No actual intelligent argument there, I guess.

But I actually thought about what you posted earlier and given that Plantation/Slave owners were exclusively Southern Democrats fighting for the idea of “Jacksonian Democracy” I guess I would agree that they were the family rapists.
