Wow! She is a very smart girl!! Visitation is a very tough school, I would love it if my daughter would get in there. But seeing how she is just finishing Kindergarden this year I won't put the pressure on.....yet

 I mean Kindergarten, fingers moving faster than my head again.

Mary Englebreit is on our walk of fame. STL has one just like LA. It's in a really eclectic neighborhood in U City and has quite an impressive list of names. :clap_1:

Yes, you nailed it, she is awesome. She and her sister both went there. Brainiacs. But cool.

It's funny, I don't know how it is there but down here we have several excellent private schools, and you have to get the kids in at PreK or kindergarten at the very latest if you want to be sure the space is available. Can't imagine how competitive it is in say NYC (I know it has to be worse in the biggest cities) but I do know my son spent WAY more time in his PreK evaluation than any college counselor would ever spend on his college application. Scary. We went down that road and have some very specific reasons we are glad we did, but there are a lot of reasons not to.

We have a Road of Shame. Anyone who has ever been to Tampa and driven down Dale Mabry knows what I mean ... all those strip clubs! Now that my kindergartener can read, I don't drive that way in the minivan anymore. Otherwise I love where we live. Most of the time.

we have, ummm let's see, ummmm nothing ! there is one area of town where you can go watch men pick up hookers and buy drugs. we call it the whorto instead of the ghetto. and we also keep a close eye on the sex offenders web site to make sure no one we know is on there - we recently found someone tho that we knew at work ! that's about it for the excitement in my town .

There are a lot of private schools here in STL. I would say 98% of them are Catholic, and if you didn't attend a Catholic grade school, your chances of getting into one of the high schools are slim to none. It's very competitive. You have to start "selecting" your schools in 7th grade. You can apply to 3 and tuition to some of them or more then what I paid for college back in the day! My husband and I decided with my first, that the Catholic system was how we were going to go. Our parish is on the small side, but growing every year. There is something comforting about knowing everyone in school. We know that we have sacrificed some of the "extras" that would come with public schools, but once into the high school years, hopefully it will even out.

Deloris T. had a song about Dale Mabry. Was not very flattering -- but a good song.

Oh yeah, and my husband has visited some of those "bottle clubs" back in the 80's. But he told me he always just fell asleep because it was so late and he was tired :floor:

You forgot to mention the occasional workplace shootings.

:floor: When mine wants to get me fired up he tells me he and his friends are going out to the Mons. :pissed: Of course when he does go out they just go to some bar instead and play Golden Tee. :floor:
