toaster ovens in rental units

Over the years we have rented many different units in South Walton and Hilton. Never have we had a unit with a toaster oven, only a toaster. My husband was wondering of that was due to fire hazards are just because maybe toasters are cheaper.

The boys in the family like their bagels warmed wrapped in foil so a toaster oven is quick. Also cheese toast for when the kids were little was easy in the toaster oven.

So is there a reason rentals don't have toaster ovens or have we just not found units that supply them.

BTW, we love, love, love Shutters unit!!!! I am playing online while the grill is heating up.

Perhaps it has something to do with the fact that toaster ovens are electricity hogs. And they're also appliances that tend to get really grotty looking if they're not properly cleaned after each use. Most cleaning services don't want to be bothered with things that need more than a good swipe and wipe--they simply don't have the time, and neither are they paid enough. Just MO.

We have a toaster oven in our condo; I've been trying for years to replace it with one of the under-the-cabinet space-saver models but have been unable to locate one. My guess is that they were discontinued probably because they were a fire hazard.

I agree that they get grimy though. Ours needs cleaning every time we visit, so it apparently gets used a lot. The cleaning folks don't seem to bother with it.

I worry about fire hazard with a toaster oven so we don't put one in our rental cottages. But we do have a large 4 slice toaster that toasts bagels and pastry, and electric grill for breakfast, waffle iron, electric crepe maker, crockpot, rice cooker, espresso pot...

Paula, it sounds like you are well-stocked and I'm certainly impressed that you have an espresso maker.:clap_1: I love my lattes!

Just bought several nice espresso cups too for the cottages (we live not too far from a Pottery Barn outlet). I really enjoy cooking and eating (and napping and reading... -- I better head off to that get healthy thread...) The espresso maker is the coffee pot you put on top of the stove (not the fancy new kind). Our family never used the fancy electric ones but rather used the little top of the stove ones so I'm sticking to tradition. The problem, though, with having all this extra cooking stuff is storage... but we figure it out.

I have the same trouble at my house.

When my friends remodeled the house next door and placed it on the rental market, the agent requested they remove the toaster oven and place it in the owner's closet.
