There is no purpose for guns in 2016. Chicago's wild west murder streak makes the point. So regardless of the type of gun, if you ban guns, surprisingly the murder rate goes down. Bad people do bad things, I get it. Look at countries with a weapons ban and look at the very few countries without a ban. There is no comparison of the number of gun related deaths. YTD almost 2,000 people have been injured or killed in gun related accidents. "If you outlaw guns, only outlaws will have guns." Sorry Bubba, but statistics show that permitted gun carriers still die at roughly the same rate as non-gun toting individuals.

Chicago has the countries toughest firearm laws. And the murder rate there has not gone down.

As far as hunting goes, create hunting clubs and leave the guns at the club.

I can not hunt my own propert with my own firearm? I have to join a hunting club?

And if I hunt multiple farms, doesn't it make better sense for me to use my own firearm that I'm comfortable with and can operate safely?

And how about the antique Belgium built Browning .270 A-bolt rifle from the 1960's that my dad handed down to me...I have to leave that at some hunting club?

BTW I am fairly conservative, so this isn't a Hillary hugger comment. We can still be free and not have guns, it is possible. Our evil government will not go despot on us, so no need to have a hand cannon. As far as hunting goes, create hunting clubs and leave the guns at the club.

totally agree with you on all points. But, why is everyone acting like their guns are even threatened at all? I would rather live in a world without guns but that's not going to happen. No one is taking guns away. Ever. Our country could at least study gun violence in our country scientifically, address the many surrounding issues, and enact commonsense laws. Assault weapons should be completely banned, imo.

Keep your guns! I know several serious gun owners and collectors who totally agree that people need to take gun ownership very seriously by registering, training and knowing how to keep them locked and away from children and crazy people.

The second amendment and your right to bear arms are not threatened in any way. But our lives are. Especially with so many irresponsible gun owners everywhere and they're multiplying. Not to mention those with mental illness, hate ideology and terrorists.

Jeez, can't believe I have to explain this. Chicago is not an island and guns are easily obtained elsewhere and brought into the city via the numerous roads, highways etc. that do not require a stop and search at a border crossing. I know this fact is hard to grasp for some.

Edit - It's like my youth spent in Memphis. The drinking age was 21 in Tennessee, but beer could be bought in Mississippi at age 18. We transported trunk loads across the state line every weekend.
