LARGE Sting Rays at the Beach

Luv the Beach

Beach Comber
Hi, Went to the beach near Camp Creek Lake/Watersound and saw about 6 VERY LARGE sting rays in the surf. Purple flag was flying, but I usually expect to see small jelly fish....big surpise(s) today!!!:yikes:

Much of the time, they are harmless Skates. If you can't see the barb on the tail, that's probably what they are...but shuffle your feet (as aggieb says) when walking in the surf anyway, just to be safe. This startles they into fleeing instead of stinging.

Yes, shuffle the feet. I got popped by one of them as a kid in Texas. Not funn!

I've also swam with some beautiful huge skates when I used to dive, I love to watch them, such graceful swimmers.

Went to Bramble this evening and saw a couple jumping out. Even with my , not so good vision, I could see them.
