GO CARDS!!!!

Louisville enters unchartered waters moving into the Big East. I guess we'll just have to wait and see how all this pans out. They are picked to win the conference. Sounds a little good to be true what with all the changes and new expectations.

I hear you will be picked to win the conference every year. I wonder what that means?

Not possible. You misunderstood or it was way out of context. He's not dumb, and a very adept speaker. He never talks about wins in that sense.

Agree 100 percent. This guy just doesn't make a bad move. It's hard not to have high expectations.

Thanks for the link Kurt.

It's gotten ridiculous all this talk about the offense. Whether the option will work in the SEC - it's not an option offense, but has the option as an element. People want to try and compare his scheme to Spurrier's and how Spurrier caught the old SEC off guard with the forward pass, and then the defenses in the SEC eventually figured him out. Spurrier's last year at UF was his most prolific on offense, but that's another topic.

It's Meyer's whole program off the field that will prove the difference, at a time when many other SEC programs are headed in the opposite direction with off the field problems.

Yes, yes, yes. It's all about leadership. Zook was a good guy but didn't have the stomach to lead like he needed to. But he stocked the team; you've got to give him credit for that. Meyer will take that talent and mold this group into a well-oiled machine.

Bombs away is not what we need here anyway. We don't know what is going to work offensively in the SEC this year or any other, because if we did there would be no reason to play the games. It may take a little while for things to click, but not too long I expect. Anyway there's no way Meyer is going to try to win with all option, all the time.

Zook's recruiting ability is overrated. He worked as hard as anyone and got some good guys but we are terribly thin at some postitions LB, CB, RB and the D line has yet to live up to standards.

He recruited like he coached - all over the place - with some big wins and inexplicable losses.

I assume you are referring to Tennersee (or UThug as some of my bretheren refer to them). Don't get me wrong, I like Meyer. I just think there will have to be an adjustment period for him. Expecting him to come out and run the table in '05 is unrealistic. I look for UF to be VERY strong in 2006.

And as much as I dislike the rest of the SEC (Vandy excepted), I have to admit that having three programs in the east the calibur of UF, UT and UGA is good for the conference. And with the addition of the ol ball coach in Columbia, the SEC east could conceivably have four teams in the top 10 in coming years. Pretty damn strong.

Kurt, Mortimer Snerd could recruit that area well. Perhaps I gave too much credit to Zook's recruiting ability and not enough to the unreal, inherent talent in the state of Florida. Either way, UF has exceptional talent right now. Give Meyer a year or two and he will do fine. But if you guys are thinking he will come in and accomplish what SOS did, then I'm not real sure about that. Coaches like Spurrier only come around once.

BTW, we signed three Florida tailbacks this year, one from Tallahassee, one from Sarasota and one from FWB. All are absolutely unreal. Unfortunately, one of them is a non-qualifier.

Sounds like you have been hearing from unrealistic fans, which may be the majority. It has taken a year to grasp Meyer's system at his previous 2 jobs.

I do expect to be improved from last year and the previous 2, in which we were in contention for the title game until our last SEC game each year. Stay tuned for UT in the swamp and we'll see.
UGA has had a rough Summer also, as well as USC.

No kidding on Georgia. They seem to be suffering the same string of bad luck that has plagued us for five years. Hopefully, all that bad ju-ju has moved from Tuscaloosa to Athens.

And there are some USC people who are highly pissed at SOS for essentially firing 5-6 scholarship players. Pretty big insult to Holtz as well.
