i can't say UFO didn't enter my mind last night.
Any good links for "getting to know the sky" ? before I google and have to sift thru. Jackie is very curious about space, the moon, etc. so I'm trying to provide accurate answers.

I like this site a lot. You can view beautiful deep space pictures that were taken by the hubble telescope. Also click on tonight's sky and watch the short video.

if you are interested in spotting satellites (particularly the International space station) this one will give you a chart for our area. Choose Destin. I tried it the other night and its very accurate. You can see them with no aided optics.

I forget the name of it, but PBS has a great show about astronomy. It comes on kinda late though IIRC it's like 11pm or midnight.

cool site, lexrst.

This made me stop for a moment...

Live 3D Java Tracking Display
Did you know there are over eight thousand artificial objects orbiting Earth? Over 2,500 are satellites, operative and inoperative. The remaining objects are orbital debris: parts such as nosecone shrouds, lens, hatch covers, rocket bodies, payloads that have disintegrated or exploded, and even objects that "escape" from manned spacecraft during operations.

J-Track 3D is one of the most popular Java applets on our web site. It shows 900 satellites, out of thousands, swarming about our earth. You can rotate the display and modify all kinds of settings. The display will also zoom in and out.
