One of my most treasured posessions is a signed Howard Finster "outsider art" picture called "Animal Heaven". When I was pregnant with Kate, we had stayed at my friend's mountain house in Cashiers NC, and she had just bought the picture on E-bay and framed it. I absolutely went bonkers over it, and when Kate was born, Jean wrapped it up and gave it to me. I have it hanging where I have to walk by it all day, and the words on it are wonderful and make me think of all of our pets who have gone to "Animal Heaven".
Finster writes things all over his pictures, and many things are misspelled. Mine reads "Where time never ends. Birds fly. Peaceful land and sky. Where they never die. They play together. No sick pets here. No hunting aloud here. Do you have pet animals you can put there names right here. (there is a blank space for names) By Howard Finster from God. Man of visions.
