Christmas Puppies

I disagree. I can tell the dog's personality as a puppy. I don't know why people choose their dogs by just a photo. I posted some photos of dogs that I thought were cute, but when you get to the shelter, you may find that the dog with the personality which is right for you, is not the dog you would have picked based on looks. If you want a calm dog, take a few dogs out for a short walk. Even though all of the dogs will be excited to get out of their cage, you will see great differences in the dogs very quickly.

Be warned, at the shelters, all of the dogs smell a little funky. They do clean up though. Jdarg does make a great point on adopting an adult dog. Many people are not prepared to spend much time training the dog, and getting up at 3am to let the dog out, and occasionally clean the big pile of poo which you will come home to. For those people, adopting adult dogs can be a blessing.
those are good words but of course it was long so i did not read it all :funn:

Hey Grayton Kid, I wanted to share this with you. It helped me get over the loss of my beloved doberman Molly a few years ago. I know it is a little long, but try and read all of it. I am sorry about your kitty. You will have her in your heart forever!

The Rainbow Bridge

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

OK KD,

Now I'm gonna cry. I love the story about the Rinbow Bridge! I can never make to the end with out crying. Mine are going to get extra snuggles, hugs and kisses tonight. Got an e-mail from a neighbor about 2 hours ago her 2 are missing. I have been out for about an hour and 45 minutes searching. No sign of them. I'll go back out tomorrow a.m. to look some more. Poor babies out on such a cold and ugly night. :(

KD you have the best readings. :clap_1: Keep them coming.

A great book for children who had a pet dog die (or even a person close to them who has died), a great book is "Dog Heaven" -- it is sooooo sweet and helps young children very much. I cry every time I read it and it would undoubtedly make children feel better. Good for very young children probably up until age 10 or so. For older kids it would be cute, too, as a sentimental "read". The illustrations and words are beautiful.

Just as we have to spell it out for CJ, we will have to write Cliff Notes on our longer posts for KiddFunn (Grayton Kid) and JohnRudy.

KiddFunn is on his way to Valdosta to Great Adventures with his school today so we probably won't hear from him. Oh my! Poor teachers!  I am on my way to SoWal after work today! The family Christmas party! It will be wild. Y'all stop by the Pink house and help us celebrate the season and family!

Yes Paula...a good friend brought her copy to me after Missy left us. It made me smile through my tears. I still remember the dog biscuits raining down! Ironic thing happened last night...sara82 called from Atlanta and said her friend and travelmate was on the phone sobbing with her mom about having to put down her beloved poodle, Ginger. The first thing I thought of was this book....I suggested sara82 find a book store and buy it for her sad sad friend. I said ironic, but I must thing GK had a reason to bring back this thread!
