Beach Fanatic
So, we have been visiting 30A since 1989. Been aware of Seaside since 1986. We drove or rode our bikes over from west of the Y until 1998. That's when we started staying on 30A. 2008 we began staying at Seaside. Less change at Seaside and that's what we always liked. (Our neighborhood is based on Seaside.) It's gotten more expensive, so we have narrowed our time when we stay and have gone from 2 or 3 times a year to once. Also narrowed the time when we go because of crowds so that became September after Labor Day week.
When we check out - always 30 minutes or so - we would have our paper/disposable parking pass - and walk down and get breakfast for one last look at the beach. Security knows who we are. Guess what. This year when we checked out besides our pool wrist bands and beach access lanyards, we had to return those parking passes or we would be charged $400 each.
So we have now decided to skip next year. Will we return in 2028?
Everything is so expensive - which is not unique to 30A but it still makes for a really expensive beach trip.
We had the best water ever! Seaside got gradually busy so that wasn't an issue. Said goodbye to the wonderful ladies who work at the Visitors Center.
It's been a wonderful time. Hope it gets better for the locals.
(FYI There is a realtor in the area who has been tearing down Seaside homes. Hopefully he won't change it too much. McMansions in the area appeared to empty while we were there. We didn't venture very far.)
