OMG, Shoot Me Now

Jeez, can't believe I have to explain this. Chicago is not an island and guns are easily obtained elsewhere and brought into the city via the numerous roads, highways etc. that do not require a stop and search at a border crossing. I know this fact is hard to grasp for some.

Edit - It's like my youth spent in Memphis. The drinking age was 21 in Tennessee, but beer could be bought in Mississippi at age 18. We transported trunk loads across the state line every weekend.
If you look, I was responding to a post. In context of the post I was responding to, my post makes perfect sense.
Although I also agree with your post concerning firearms transported across city/state lines.

Debt deficit economic collapse anarchy. Country's come and go.

Remember the Rodney King riots in Los Angeles? I was there. The only reason they didn't come into my neighborhood was because they found out the neighborhood was armed.
Guess that's the same reason gangs don't shoot each other, oh wait a minute..............

The people protecting my neighborhood were mostly off duty law enforcement, off duty firefighters, and just regular folk. local law enforcement protection was not available during the riots.

That makes sense. And it's a good thing for people to protect each other. Commonsense laws addressing gun violence in our country should only help, not hurt these situations, making sure those who have guns have them legally and are prepared to use them properly. I keep seeing posts by people who act like if any law is passed then they have lost all their guns immediately. I don't want that and I don't know of anyone who does want that.

Teresa-
The problem some have is,
Every time there is a shooting like recently in Orlando...

The media and many politicians go to the knee jerk "we must have gun laws reform". "These "asssult" weapons must be banned". None of which would stop a mad man on his Jihad, (be it his personal, political, religious, or whatever evil he possesses).

Meanwhile, Americans are being gunned down across the nation each week. And the same blowhards are MIA.
The selective outrage and political opportunism gets tiresome.

Here's a chance to see beyond the politics. Pay attention to the people who work every day to reduce gun violence.

Excellent point.

No condolences however to those who are not of the plenty. :dunno:

All I'm saying is there's no comparison. I can run from the bat wielder, and even if I can't, the crowd might be able to take him down. The same goes for the knife wielder. It's a terrible way to go if they do get a hold of you, but they are not good tools for mass killing.
