Seriously? the American Flag?

the above 2 posts sum up the entire story on this kind of TV news reporting, at least for me.. Fox may be the lead in its Geraldo style news reporting, but all news sources resort to crap news all the time.. I believe that news agencies give us what we want. We have asked for this kind of reporting. We live for it. However, this particular story wasn't even remotely interesting or newsworthy - usually they have a lot more crap to throw in to make it more dramatic, etc. surely this is more to the story?? oh well, maybe next time.

and yes, I do believe everyone should be able to fly the American Flag. Or not. whatever. seems to me there are way too many other important issues, and problems of the day. but that is just me. each person will take what they want from any news story, and it either does it for you, or it doesn't. if you liked this flag story - terrific. if you don't, then move on and find one you do like. or better yet - turn it off or you are going to see a lot more of the same.

but it does make for some interesting commentary on this thread. I wonder why some posters have to be so dang nasty. why not just state your opinion without bashing another for theirs?

It's funny that Geraldo is about the most level-headed person on the network.

Surely no one believes that this incident was totally about flying the American flag. Something happened at this apartment complex between residents and the flag got caught in the middle. After the media got involved the manager consulted thier lawyers and decided they did not have the legal right to ban the flags.

The manager stated: the flag ban was based on interpretation of two sections of the rental agreement all tenants sign."What we were trying to do was to keep the peace," she said, declining to say whether a specific incident sparked enforcement of the ban. "Obviously, we were wrong. If the peace needs to be kept, it belongs to the police department."

The initial ban was not specifically against the American flag but all flags including sport flags.

Considering the hostility in this discussion among those not even directly affected, does it surprise anyone that something was said at this complex to compell the manager to take a stand to try and keep the peace.

I read but like KDW, it saddens me to see such hateful and spiteful comments so I don't comment much.

I mean in one thread many are all bent out of shape about someone being told they can not fly the American flag and then on another thread those same want the government to control the right to own a gun, eat cereal or even go to McDonald's.

Whatever happened to Americans being allowed to make up on their own mind. Many things can kill us, guns, cars, food, alcohol, drugs, cigarettes, even stress. None of these things do the killing, but the person using them or abusing them does.

But surely we have not come to the point as adults we think someone else needs to make those decisions for us.

As to the polictical situation, some just need to get over it and move on, Obama was elected and until his term is up he is President and with that should come the respect of that position. We voted, he won, now move on.

And if you can't find it in your heart to support him, then do us all a favor and put all that energy and hate into something useful and go volunteer to a worthy cause instead of constantly whallowing in self pity.

And that goes to both sides, there are some democrats that need to move on too.

I agree with you both. I doubt that will change any time soon, but hopefully it will.

Normally i would say to stay out of the political forum. But I notice there are some new folks who only post in this forum, and do it to cause trouble.

Let this be a warning to all. Personal attacks are not permitted on SoWal.com.
