Hi everyone...

New posts
Hi Lisa...I be living in your "hood". ;-) Actually, I live in Lacey's Spring, but work in Huntsville. Was born and mostly raised in Huntsville. It is my home. Good luck on your adventure I hope everything works out for you!!!! Oh, and :welcome:

I'd rent for a year then decide. But then I'm a NY'er and never want to give up my home, just in case I get homesick...

Well my children are gown and settled here. They're all I have as far as family. I guess thats why I intend to become a Snow Bird (is that 1 word or 2?).

Snow bird is several words not allowed on this board.

Actually (and very surprisingly) I haven't been contacted by ONE SINGLE real estate agent. Was beginning to wonder if REA's were banned from SOWAL....

We've been browsing the availabilities on the SoWal real estate link which, by the way, is EXTREMELY helpful. We're very encouraged by what we're seeing.

The good Realtors won't spam you. If you want a recommendation just ask, I'll be happy to stear you in the right direction.

We are not all pushy used-car salespeople.

lisaloe, you should keep in mind that most of us who live here, also had that same longing to be here. I came to check out the Panama City area after a friend of mine moved there. Hated it really quickly so drove west and I stopped in the Grayton area and said, "this is it!" I hung out at the Grayton Beach State Park for two weeks, spending all of the daylight hours driving down every single road (yes, all of them) in SoWal, looking for the house which spoke to me. The day before I was going to head back to the hills, I found it. Put an offer on the house, got a contract, and came back a month later when the construction was complete, and moved in. It really can be that simple.

The same thing happened to us 13 years ago. It took about 6 months to make the move and it is now home. I'm sure that some people regret doing it but its hard to imagine how.

You are all so wonderful!:D

I have been in  with SoWal since the moment I put my toes in the sand there.... and now I :wub: the people too!!!!!

since the slowing of real estate you should be able to get something for a steal!

:lolabove: You obviously haven't met the realtors where I live! Believe me, I've discovered this and it's been a refreshing change.

We're keeping our fingers crossed. Have found an agent and are discovering that we really CAN afford to get a place there! No, it won't be a mansion on the beach... but a nice walk, bike ride, or even five minute drive to the beach beats the heck out of a six hour one....

I've actually (gasp ) sent out a few resumes. Big step for me, since I've been with my present employer for going on 15 years! I think I'm tempting the fates... right now we're in a holding pattern until our house sale is final... but if I get that perfect job offer, maybe I'll just have to move down there and rent until we can buy! ;-)
