So true. My father absolutely considers it a mortal sin when I pick up a dinner tab.
i hear ya - when we invite mom and pop out to dinner i expect to pay since i invited them. we always have to hassle over the check because he thinks since he's my father he should still pay for my stuff. oddly enough my in-laws are the complete opposite. their obligations completely ended when the kids turned 18 - you're outta there ! they make me realize how lucky i am.

Yeah--the problem with that is that my brother won't let me get away with that. I'll probably be tested on this material since I borrowed them from him. God love him...
But he's having me watch them in chronological order, so I won't get to those for a while yet.

Okay, here it is...so, we get back to the hotel after 5 hours of delightful walking, shopping and eating. They have a lovely courtyard off the bar and lobby that is set up with chairs and tables. I like to have a smoke, but abhor smoking inside, so I step outside (as I have done many times before) and this haughty hotel employee comes bounding out the door and says to me in a most condesending manner that the area is not open since it has rained like 5 hours ago. :roll: I sweetly tell him I am just finishing up my cig and need no service. Well! You would have thought I dissed his mama...he rolled his eyes , turned on his heel and pouted back inside. I just sat there doing this...
I wanted to say..."go bite yourself" or "STFU", but my French is limited.
