Steve Jobs did a number on the "industry"I definitely don't care for hip hop, but it's not a swipe aimed specifically at it. It's not so much about what today's music has to offer, but what it doesn't. I can find music I like today, but I have to dig a little. I wasn't really a big 80s music fan. Didn't care for the hair bands, Journey, cheesy rick astley type music, Wham all that stuff. I wasn't even a big fan of Prince, but the man was oozing with creativity, musical skill, and above all he played a mean guitar and he rocked. You don't see that so much in the mainstream today. Sometimes it takes a broad brush to get at the truth.
At the end of his performance, he throws his guitar in the air, and it doesn't come down! He defies explanations, and defies gravity too!Not listening to a lot of his music in recent years I went on youtube and realized I had forgotten what a badass guitar player this man was. His performance at the tribute to George Harrison gave me goosebumps.
You're thinking of Lee Michaels. You'll never hear stuff like that again in the mainstream. The only reason I even care about the mainstream is because music does influence society in some way, and I think today society is missing out on so much. There is music that so many people would like if only it were promoted, but that stuff is buried deep forever RIP.but that's white soul
