Palliative Care for Dying Infants Enrages the Right

New posts
I said I wouldn't contribute to the thread but couldn't resist when I saw this.

I see you just want to be the off-topic troll king. You post this as though I might be standing behind the governor. I'm standing behind the notion of palliative care for non-viable infants. This is the result of you posting an out of context quote by him (off topic on the other thread by the way), in order to promote your conservative agenda. It doesn't matter who made the quote. It could have been made by Charles Manson. It doesn't give anyone the license to misrepresent his views on this particular topic, which by the way, was sane and rational. Now you just want to branch out into something else because you don't have the intellectual or moral ammo to stick with the current subject.

I am not sure I agree, but that was fu king spot on and eloquently put. The NY law is too loose in my opinion which creates hysteria. I understand the impetus, but as with everything these days, it isnt accurately portrayed. I read the bill, but it seemed porous. Meaning too much open to interpretation and opinion.

The Right will say...approve the right to kill viable children, but scream about the hypocrisy of the left on little Mexican kids being separated from their mothers.

Very difficult discussion.

For this discussion, I'm not interested in the specifics of the bill. I'm concerned with the hysteria created by an out of context quote. It's all over the Internet. As for the bill itself, maybe it needs rewording, maybe it needs to go back to the drawing board. But as I'm sure you know, that wasn't what prompted this discussion. This discussion was prompted by off-topic underhanded intellectually dishonest smear on another thread.

That's a narrow topic. I'm talking about the bigger pictire and the implications of new bills and laws and how the "health exception", established by the Supreme Court, has bearing on these new bills/laws. Specifically, psychological and emotional health as deciding factors for carrying out an abortion. That can be interpreted too broadly in my opinion.

I'm not interested in debating this topic. You have your opinion and I have mine. I only follwed the link from the other thread because you quoted me and linked it to here.

If the topic is narrow, it's because you kicked off this discussion with a narrow focus on a 32 word statement by the governor. I have your words right here:

Is this what the left desires?
Northam -

"The infant would be kept comfortable. The infant would be resuscitated if that’s what the mother and the family desired, and then a discussion would ensue between the physicians and the mother.”

That’s an unbelievably sad story that has absolutely nothing to do with the abortion debate! You few might act like this thread is purely for this type of situation in the story you posted a link to, but in reality anyone with half a brain can clearly see by your comments that you guys are for abortion of all forms and reasons, and that is pathetic! Of course it would be up to the “parents” to decide this unborn child’s fate in this story, and most conservatives would agree, that they were justified in “their” decision. It’s the killing of babies in the womb for convenience that is murder, and in no way a choice that should be legal! Trying to muddy the waters here with talk about end of life care for the elderly is again the opposite side of the spectrum from the subject of abortion! Old people have lived a long life, and had no one choose to end it before they even had a chance to start! It’s pretty cut and dry, if there’s a good medical reason for abortion then okay, but if there’s not one then no! Anyone who argues that a woman has a right to kill their baby when it’s nothing more than a “choice” is guilty of the same murder perpetrated by the the mother, the doctor, the nurses, and the father if they were given a choice, period. Making little jokes about this subject like were made above shows where some of you are morally, and the fact that you call out idiots like Trump for their own personal morality is pathetic. He very well may be black in his soul, but you’re the pot!

If one agrees that it's the parents' right to decide on abortion in this case, then I don't understand their beef with the Virginia governor's statement.
